The Parish Church
The Parish Church of Ss Peter and Paul was designed by the architect Martin Fisher and built in 1965 in the post Vatican II style, and consecrated in 1976. The Exterior of the church is simple with little decoration, and only in recent times, when new signs were fitted, was it known by many to be a church.
The interior of the church continues the simple theme, but is very striking with the whole congregation directed to the sanctuary. The church is flooded with light from windows along each side as well as from a skylight above the sanctuary. The simple style of the church interior is enhanced with a number of carvings, sculptures and paintings.
Adjacent and connected to the church is the Apostles' Room where various parish groups meet and where we hold parish functions.
Over the last few years the parish has been working hard to enhance the church and its facilities, with particular attention to providing access for the disabled. This has included a reorganization of the sanctuary, the construction of a new confessional and vestry at the rear of the church, the construction of a new kitchen, the fitting out of a disabled toilet and the fitting automation to the front doors of the church.
