The Sacraments

What is a Sacrament? And why do we need all 7 of them?
All the Sacraments are the action of Jesus Christ in His Church. They are the outward sign of inward grace, bringing us God’s spiritual help we need to live our lives as we ought. The Sacraments are the key moments in our life with Christ, and as a Parish we come together to support each other in the Sacraments.
Details of the Sacraments are listed below and more detailed information can be found on each Sacrament page.
Baptism
Please contact the Parish Priest to discuss arrangements
Confession & Reconciliation
After Holy Mass or at a mutually convenient time as agreed with the Parish Priest
First Holy Communion
Children's preparation for First Holy Communion takes place each year. Please talk to the Parish Priest.
Confirmation
Confirmation takes place in the Bath Deanery each year. Please contact the Parish Priest if you wish to prepare to be Confirmed.
Marriage
If you wish to be married in the church please contact the Parish Priest. Please ensure that you leave adequate time (6 months) for preparation.
Marriages that take place in the Chapel of the Snows, Prior Park College, require the permission of the Parish Priest of Ss Peter & Paul and priests officiating require the delegation of the Parish Priest to be obtained prior to the wedding for validity.
Anointing of the Sick
This is a Sacrament of healing for someone who is unwell or preparing for surgery; and it can be in an emergency when someone is dying.  In all cases the Word of God is proclaimed to provide hope and consolation
